Society CCTV is the most common large cable job in Maharashtra and Gujarat, and the one where the cheapest quote most often turns into the second tender two years later. Here is how we would plan a typical one: three towers of 14 floors, 40 IP cameras, a compound, and a request to future-proof for broadband in the risers.
Split the job into three cable types
Risers inside the towers: lift lobbies, stair landings, parking. Many cables in one shaft, PoE on all of them, enclosed space. This is Gold Series indoor, WC-2217G, because the bundle in the riser is where alien cross-talk bites and Wi-Barrier Tape stops it with no earthing.
The compound: gate, perimeter, parking, garden, pole cameras. Sun, rain, rodents. Gold Series outdoor double-LDPE with anti-rodent coating, WC-2264K; armoured WC-2274K for the stretch that crosses the driveway without conduit.
Lifts: the camera in each car needs a flat travelling cable, not round CAT6. Channeltech CAT6 Flat CC-8251G-90, supplied in 90 m coil pairs, is on this site under Channeltech lift cables.
Count the boxes
Walk the routes with a measuring wheel. For this site: 24 riser cameras at an average 45 m route gives 24 × 49 m = 1,176 m, so four boxes of WC-2217G. 16 compound cameras at 70 m average gives 16 × 74 m = 1,184 m, so four boxes of WC-2264K, with one of them armoured if the driveway crossing is over 60 m. Three lifts: two coil pairs of CC-8251G-90. Add patch cords, 0.5 m at the panel and 1 m at the camera, which for 40 cameras is 80 cords.
Where societies get it wrong
The riser gets outdoor cable "because it is tougher". It is not for an enclosed shaft: LDPE smokes in a fire and the committee has to live with it. Risers get LSZH or FR-PVC; the compound gets LDPE.
The broadband riser is forgotten. While the shaft is open, pull two spare CAT6A runs per floor to a box in each lift lobby. Two boxes of Neo WC-2212G per tower is the cheapest internet upgrade the society will ever buy.
The paperwork
Quote by part code and box count. Attach the datasheets from the Downloads page and the CAT6A channel test report. If the society buys through GeM, WIAN is an Approved OEM in the Q2 category for LAN cables.
